Shredding the Future; Honoring the Past; Thanking the Present!

Forgotten Man Productions

Well, I promised you an update and here we go…The music business is a rocky road to say the least and anybody who has been part of it, knows this going in. Expectations are high, and achievements are hard, but in the end, it is all worth it. We live, we learn, we persevere, and we move forward stronger, faster and more furious than when we started. This past year of Forgotten Man has not been without its peaks and valleys; potholes and smooth roads, bumps, bruises and bandages however, we are still here, we have survived, and we are determined.

Over the first year we were able to build the brand, produce an album and 8 singles; start our initiatives and maded lots of new friends across the globe. We started the Forgotten Man Music Blog, have collaborated with and encountered some extraordinary musicians, as well as, met some incredible people in the wonderful and wacky world of Rock and Music in general. We are grateful for you all! But as always this is a balanced world and with good, comes bad, or else we would have nothing to achieve; all would be bliss and we would not have anything to work toward or learn. It all about learning, and it is the mistakes which teach us and make us stronger and better.

We have also stepped on some landmines but were able to counter-weigh and walk away whole; we shed some dead weight, circumnavigated some truly psychotic and/or egocentric people (as one does, when in the entertainment industry) and overcome some personal obstacles to do with health and well-being. The end result, we are still here and stronger than ever despite some’s attempts at trying to destroy what we worked so hard to build. We are going nowhere and intend on going the distance providing the universe will allow.

We thank each and every one of you for joining us on this journey and hope that you will continue to do so as we move forward with our mission.  We take pride in what we have achieved, as it has been completely organic and unlike some others we earn our friends, likes, fans and followers. We don’t purchase them to look bigger than we are. But enough of that, on to the good stuff.

Moving forward:

The Music:

Wangies, Rock Music, Elena VanceA new album is imminent, so look for it in 2019. Andrew is in the process of finishing 3 news songs and working on 4 additional tracks as we speak. We are starting to form the new band Forgotten Man and hope to have that completed by the end of the year. If you visit Wangies in Manchester this Thursday, August 16, 2018 — you might just get a surprise!!!

The Initiative:

“One Nation Under Rock” has been launched, as has the Collective.  Our hope is to be able to create a program in which Independent musicians can generate revenue in addition to reunite the rock industry under one bucket. Bring the genres back together as it were.  As you know, we feel that the industry has not only become over-saturated but has also become over-genre’d. It is the segregation of the genres which has done the most damage. In reuniting the genres we hope that we can illuminate and put the spotlight back rock once again…it is still the number one music listened to in the world (https://forgottenmanproductions.com/2018/06/14/reuniting-rock-music/)  …we need to make that clear globally.

The Kids:

We are still working with the kids of Salford Musical Youth, as well as Dexter Sinner. Most recently Dexter Sinner has started to perform feat: Elena Vance of Forgotten Man as their “stand-in” lead vocalist until they can find a suitable replacement for their lead vocalist who departed to go to College. Andrew has been working with DElena Vance, Dexter Sinner, Salford Musical Youth, Rock Music Manchesterexter Sinner for 2 years and brought them for losing competitions to winning in this short time. They wowed the audience at a recent Youth Event, and wills tart performing live in the Manchester area…as I said, if you stop by Wangies in Manchester this Thursday you might just have a treat.

Services:

In the coming month we will focus on a package dedicated to marketing for musicians. We did a little bit last year. But have not been promoting it. This will change in the coming months. We have noted that many musicians either do not have the time, or do not understand the nature of Social Media and what works on the internet. We realize that funds are limited, so we are attempting to put together a package that can be financially attractive, but also robust enough to help them, which can also be customized to what they need. So watch this space.

As always, we offer a host of services running the gamut. From songwriting, to mentoring bands, to helping you produce your music. So, feel free to contact us, should you require assistance. It is easy to think you can do everything yourself, but sometimes a musician’s worst enemy is themselves.  It helps to have a neutral pair of ears in the process of making  and performing music.

Search for New Music:

We are always looking for new bands with an interesting sound. So please feel free to message us with bands, and musicians who you feel are truly rock-centric , any rock sub-genre will do.  We would love to listen and share their music. Sharing truly quality new music is central to Rock surviving the onslaught of all the other genres.

As always, thank you for your support, the likes, the shares, the comments and the messages. We love you guys as much as we love Rock itself!

Cheers,

One Nation Under Rock (ONUR)

Rock Music, Rock music education, Independent musicians

One Nation Under Rock is Forgotten Man’s initiative to discover ways for indie musicians primarily in the Rock Genre (all sub-genres i.e. rock, blues, prog, metal, hard, etc.)  to generate revenue, collaborate and excel in the music industry. Included in this initiative will be programs that will educate, enable and support musicians/bands in their journey to achieve success.

Unfortunately it is a known fact that due to many factors, music sales have declined, and a musician/band can no longer make their living selling their music as they used to. Signing with a label limits creative freedom and also cuts into earnings. Not to mention with the influx of “bedroom” musicians and recording technology great music is getting lost. We are hoping to figure out ways to highlight exceptional music, keep the money in the musicians/bands pocket as well as create paths that they can take to grow and flourish.

In addition, the initiative will attempt to reinvigorate, rejuvenate and revive the Rock Industry throughout the world. Rock Music has taken a back seat to other genres over the last 20 years and we would like to bring it back to its rightful place within the industry through mentoring, education, production, unity and organization. It has segregated itself into different groups. We want to bring the industry back together.

ONUR was unofficial launched in 2017 but will have it’s formal launch In 2018 upon the completion of Between the Sheets, and Kick the covers (below) and the ability to do our first musician exchange we will officially launch ONUR and start the process of making it into a  Non-Profit dedicated to the growth, education and creating resources & events for independent artist.

Completed:

Facebook Community Page:
We started the page as an unofficial launch in 2017 to start to attract Musicians and Music Industry Professionals. The idea is to create a network of support from both sides of the industry and a place where musicians can find guidance, ask questions and get feedback. It is the first community and it only allows music professionals.  After the official launch of ONUR we will create a fan page as well. Where we can start to share the fruits of the professional page and the musicians collaborating and interacting in the program.

In Progress:

Between the Sheets, and Kick the Covers:
Is an album paying tribute to the great rock musicians of our time. The concept is focused on bringing attention back to Rock Music and is  the actual beginning of ONUR. To date the tracks include single’s covers performed by artists Elena Vance and Chris Adams.  The 8 track Album, which originally was scheduled to be completed by Valentines day 2018 is now scheduled to finish to be completed in March (Postponed due to medical issues experienced by one of the artists.)  The first single produced for the Album was released July 4, 2017 and was Jimi Hendrix’s Little Wing. An additional single has followed each month since that time adding, “Hurt” (Nine Inch Nails, Johnny Cash Arrangement); “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You”, Led Zeppelin; “Iceman”, Bruce Springsteen; “Carpet Crawlers”, Peter Gabriel with Genesis; “In a Broken Dream”, Python Jackson Lee. The remaining two Singles to be released Feb 4, 2018 and March 4, 2018 will be Chris Cornell’s “I am the Highway” and ELP’s “Still You Turn Me On”. The Album will be released the following month in April.  You can find all the singles and additional music on our FMP Music Page

Musician Exchange Program Beta:
Touring and Merchandising have become the primary ways for musicians to make money these days. Unfortunately most musicians/bands do not have the deep pockets to fund a tour. We are hoping to create a program to match musicians internationally, so that they can perform with other bands in different locations, empowering them to be able to promote their music, share their brand and sell their merchandise.

Pipeline:

  • Artist Page
Located on the Forgotten Man Website, which will be dedicated to highlighting independent artist, their music and the ability to support them through crowdfunding and sharing their music.
  • Seminars, Classes and coaching for musicians and Bands
ONUR through Forgotten Man will offer courses and guidance in the areas of songwriting, recording, performing, voice and more.
  • Indie Music Discovery  & Rock Music Rejuvination
A tour and contest for Indie bands/artists in the United States (and subsequently in the UK) to start sourcing untapped talent and to raise awareness of the Independent Artists – we will combine performances by independent artists with a competition for new Independent artists. The mission will be to generate visibility for indie music, funding for ONUR Programs and give opportunities to new artists that are perhaps getting lost in an over-saturated market. Stay tuned for more on this project.
  • Radio Streaming
An online radio station dedicated to progressive and Indie Music which can be accessed worldwide in order to promote undiscovered talent and also promote pure raw rock, blues and related genres of music that have had an impact on the music industry.
  • Rock and Roll Revitalization Project
Reinvigorate, rejuvenate and revive the Rock Industry throughout the world.  Rock and Roll has taken a back seat to other types of music over the last 20 years and we would like to bring it back to its rightful place within the industry through mentoring, education, production, unity and organization. It has segregated itself into different groups. We want to bring the industry back together.

Between the Sheets, and Kick the Covers: The Covers Project

October 13, 2017, Boulder, CO – Forgotten Man Production announces the fifth of eight covers set to be released over and eight month period which started on July 4, 2017 with “Little Wing” . The project is called “Between the Sheets, and Kick the Covers” and is a collaboration between artists Chris Adams & Elena Vance , in association with Forgotten Man Productions. The project will be produced in Boulder, Colorado; recorded in Glossop, United Kingdom and Ft. William Highlands, and will culminate with an album release on February 14, 2018 of the same name. The project is part of a bigger initiative called “One Nation Under Rock” which is focused on rejuvenating the Rock Industry, as well as finding ways to help independent musicians make generate revenue, as well as providing resources, education and connections for musicians all over the world.

UPDATE:  Iceman was releases on October 4th, and is the 4th release in the project. Elena Vance informed me yesterday that “Lighter Touch” by Heart has been removed from the line-up and will be replaced by a the Genesis track Carpet Crawlers!

All 8 songs had been named in August: “Little Wing”,  “Hurt”Babe I’m Gonna Leave you”, and “Iceman”  have been released thus far. In November the original song was meant to be Heart’s “Lighter Touch”, but it was felt by both artists that a more  deep roots progressive rock song was needed so they changed the selection to Carpet Crawlers.

After the the November 4th release, there will be 3 more tracks, “In a Broken Cream, by Python Lee Jackson”, made famous by Rod Steward (Dece 4);  Audioslave’s , “I am the Highway” (Jan 4) ;   and just in time for Valentine’s Day, Emerson Lake and Palmer’s “Still You Turn me on” (Feb 4)  — So stay tuned on the 4th of each month through February for a new release! And then watch for the Album on February 14th…
